1. How do I enroll into the interventional pulmonology (IP) fellowship program?
Please write an official letter (use your hospital or institution letterhead) and attach your CV. The letter should be addressed to:

2. What is the duration of the IP program? Who is eligible?
Between 1-3 months (or longer if needed). Pulmonologist/pulmonary fellow or thoracic surgeon/fellow.
3. Where can I read the details of the IP program?

4. What is the format of the IP program? Is this a hands-on course?
The program consists of:
- Didactic lectures
- Hands-on training using high fidelity simulators
- Observation of live cases (you may be allowed to do procedures if you possess a medical license and indemnity insurance or if your supervisor agrees to supervise you)
5. Do I need a visa or permit?
Requirements vary from countries to countries. Please check with your respective countries. We will provide accepted fellows with a letter of acceptance to support their visa application if necessary.
6. Do you offer scholarship/sponsorship to IP fellows?
No, we don’t. We encourage applicants to seek support from their respective governments, hospitals, societies, or industry grants and scholarships.
7. Are there specific dates for me to start the fellowship?
We run the fellowship throughout the year. Maximum 3 fellows in every 3 months. If the slot is full, you will be given the next available slot.
- Quarter 1: January 1- March 31
- Quarter 2: April 1- June 30
- Quarter 3: July 1- September 30
- Quarter 4: October 1 – December 31
8. Are there any formalities that I need to do before coming to Malaysia?
No.
9. What about accommodation? Is accommodation provided?
No, we don’t provide accommodation. It is easy to find a house near the hospital. We suggest you rent a house during your training. The house rent near the hospital is around 300 USD per month.
10. What is the training fee? Total cost?
The training fee is 1K USD (1000 USD). Accommodation is not included in the fee.
11. When do I pay the training fee? Can I pay via credit card?
You pay at the end of your training. Yes, you may pay via credit card.
12. What is taught in the training program?
- Rigid bronchoscopy
- Airway stenting
- Pleuroscopy/rigid thoracoscopy
- Hot & cold therapies
- Linear EBUS
- Bronchoscopic lung volume reduction
- Intratumoral injection
13. How often can I use the simulators?
You can use the simulators several times during your fellowship until you are comfortable and confident.
14. Can I be allowed to be part of the planning, preparation and observation of IP procedures?
Yes
15. Do I get a certificate at the end of the fellowship?
Yes. The certificate does not confer the right to practice IP procedures independently; local credentialing and licensing requirements must still be met.
